It is 61 degrees in my office

The building has yet to turn on the heat and space heaters aren't allowed due to the strain on the wiring. I think I need to look into a treadmill desk!

Can anyone commiserate with me?

Sounds like my old office. The cubes by the windows never got above 60 degrees while the interior rooms and cubes were close to 80 degrees all winter. Temps flipped in the summers. Fun times.

Same! I'm dying. I have a space heater under my desk going full blast. I can't type when I'm shivering.

get a space heater anyway and don't tell them.

Get a heated blanket and wrap yourself in it.

bonfire?

That is like 15 degrees too cold. It's November FFS. Can you telework?

Oh hell no! That is ridiculous. When do they turn on the heat?

The suggestion of a heated blanket is really good. Costco has one for like $23 that is throw size. Amazon Prime could probably have one to you today. If you have a heating pad at home, you could bring that in and sit on it.

I'd bring in a space heater. No building manager will say "oh yeah do that" because it messes with the thermostats too. But honestly, if it's going to be 61 degrees INDOORS I'd get a space heater.

Ask forgiveness, not permission on this one.

OP here. We had space heaters two years ago, but totally killed a circuit and acomputer and had to get some new wiring.

Don't tell, but later today I'm expecting Amazon to deliver this "personal" space heater that's not supposed to draw much electricity and has several reviews by people like me where space heaters are verboten.

When called on Monday, building management said they will turn on the heat "later this week." Of course, it's going to b 77 on Friday!

I kid you not, I took in my daughters mermaid blanket to wear along with my jacket everyday. Considering buying fingerless gloves. It’s insane. Space heaters blow the circuits in our office and I just haven’t gotten around to getting a smaller heated blanket.

A bit nippy, yes.

But I prefer that to too hot - my daughter's second grade classroom has the shortest duct to the HVAC. The room was GLACIAL in September and today they turned on the heat and the room was HOT. It's not healthy and I'm just frustrated at a system that can do this to young kids in school.

I have the opposite problem in May, June, August, and September in the school I teach in. I'm on the third floor and it regularly is 100 degrees or more. I purchased 4 fans which help a little, but not much. Then I lose my voice talking over the fans, too. I've learned to take my sick days those months. I teach when I feel terrible the rest of the year, but nothing is worse than being in a room with 30 middle schoolers in 100 degree classrooms. Much better to stay home in my own AC.

Put on a sweater and be grateful you're not trying to sleep in Puerto Rico.

I don't understand people who complain about being too cold, when it's so easy to warm up. Put on socks, a sweater, gloves -- it's not brain surgery.
