is your DC going trick or tricking this year? If not when did they stop going? MY DC start all about 14-16 years old. Are less kids going trick or tricking now? It seems like it..
Yes she is. 9th grade. Going with a bunch of boys.
|
Trick or TREATING.
|
Some do some don't. My 14 year old is out but my 16 year old has too much homework and he realizes that teen girls are more adorable than teen boys. If they wear a costume I say go for it. There is a finite time when you can enjoy this and then it is gone forever.
7th grade/13 yrs old DD is really into it and out with a group of friends. 9th grade/14 hr old DS is not, he is hanging out at a friend's house.
I love seeing well behaved teenagers at the door. They’re still kids, but not much longer. It’s touching to me. Plus some of them have awesome costumes.
I have no issue with it. Its fun for them and all have been very nice and friendly. |
DD and a few of her freinds went 17. they got really into with costumes and such.
I had the cutest group of high-school girls come trick-or-treating. They had costumes and the most sheepish grins.
DD is 13 and in 8th grade. She's still *very* into it and went trick-or-treating with some friends last night. I like to see kids and teens out on Halloween - I think it's cute that they're still enjoying the costumes, etc.
I think its a bell curve. It becomes not "cool" in middle school, then by HS is in again as it means a chance to run around with peers on a school night with limited supervision. Thats how it was for me, it seems to be how it still is!
I agree. I get annoyed only when teens show up without anything that could remotely be considered a costume. I mean, c'mon. We had 2 teen girls who looked like they always look. They were polite, and we gave them candy, but... Then toward the end of TOT, a group of 4 freshmen girls came. They were boisterous and nice and totally decked out in costumes. I gave them handfuls of candy, and they were polite and grateful.

11y old was not going to and then decided at the last minute to go with a group of his friends. He had a blast!
My twins just started high school this year and after attending a game after school, they came home, relaxed and did homework. Neither expressed interest in going trick or treating. It actually made me feel a bit sad because it marked a turning point and brought home they are transitioning out of childhood.
Mine did with their friends. 12 and 17 year old boys.
