Behavior concerns, autsim or adhd?

I have a lot of veggie & fruit pouch caps collected at home because my 2 year old loves to drink them. He loves to play with them daily by putting them on his fingers and toes, and sometimes he put them on adult's fingers/toes too. He bounces up and down whole day indoors & whenever he is excited/bored. He can bounce up and down for a 20 minutes nonstop. Of course, he can sit still through storytime, watch tv, play with toys, and eat meals and etc.

My friend tells me that I should keep an eye for the pouch caps & bounces up/down part in case it is some medical concerns or diagnosis, like autism or adhd. Should I go ahead & schedule an appointment with pediatrician to talk about these.

Nope. I have one kid with Autism and one with ADHD. This in itself doesn’t sound like anything at 2. I would notnschedule an appointment just for this. Unless it would make you feel better of course. Otherwise just ask at the next visit.

OP here. I want to add that my 2 year old loves to social, and play with kids and adults. He loves to greet people & hug people. He is really active boy, so energetic, just want to play all day. Everyone says he is a sweet boy with a big smiles.

When he do floortime or table activities, he can do it for 20-30 minutes or longer by sitting still if he is interested. But of course, I always see him running around or chase after kids if he spots kids are playing outdoors.

Is your son talking/babbling, pointing, responding to his name, making eye contact? If other developmental milestones are being met and this is your only behavioral concern, I would wait until your next pediatrician visit.

He sounds like an energetic 2 yr old that in my opinion isn't a candidate for any intervention at this point. As another reply stated the first signs to look for with autism are sociability, eye contact, ability to engage in imaginative play. It sounds like his placing the juice packets on his fingers is imaginative play or it could be a compulsive act which you should be able to decipher by asking him questions about it. Boys are usually more interested in large motor activities at that age and less apt to have much attention span. Time will tell if he has any ADHD tendencies but at this point he doesn't sound autistic at age 2. Blessings to you for your concerns in this age of having to question so many child behaviors in light of childhood disorders that have become so prevalent.
