| I'm staying with family right now and I don't really want to have to rent, since it's such a waste of money. But obviously I can't buy anything until things are divided, my name is off the current home, etc. Did you just suck it up and pay rent anyway? |
| Omg. Grow up. Yes. You rent. |
| We stayed in the house until it sold. |
| I rented and forgot how much I loved renting. A trash chute? Sign me up! No lawn?? Great!! Free cable? Awesome, haven't had cable in years! |
Excellent points! Also, a maintenance person... how nice to not have to fix things. |
It's not a waste of money, it's the first step in being independent. |
+2 Huh? I took my two kids and signed a lease. #adulting |
| Rent something. Get comfortable living on your own before you sink most of your net worth into new housing. |
| We started off in separate bedrooms but it was just too weird. So less than a month later I rented my own place (I’m the woman, he’d owned the house before we were married so I didn’t want anything from it). |
| We rented a shared 2nd place and swapped saying in the house or the apt. |
Same here! |
| This post so confusing. Living on your own is valuable, essentially really as you build this next part of your life and heal. |
| I also stayed with family mostly because I didn’t want to be alone. My ex was abusive and I needed the emotional support. I don’t know if I would have made it otherwise. I was in bad shape. I’m glad I had family who were there for me. No shame in that. |
