I have posted a blog I started in three or four different places. Then I read that if it is not the right place, it will be deleted. Then I saw the Off-Topic post spot and posted my blog web address and information there. Within a few minutes of each time I post it, it is taken off. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Trying to get this right |
You have pretty much answered your own question. Posting the same thing in three or four different places is a petty clear cut case of spamming. Moreover, your goal seems to be little more than to advertise your blog. Advertising is not a free service that we offer. I was willing to give you a break on your first post in the Travel forum, but then you followed up with posts in other forums. That extinguished my goodwill pretty quickly. In terms of enlightening you, I suggest that henceforth you learn the rules of a website before you post to it rather than afterwards. The topics of advertising, spamming, and cross-posting are all covered in our FAQs. |
I cannot believe how rude you are being. I posted in one place, and within 2 minutes, it was deleted. Since I am not super tech savvy, I thought maybe I didnt actually submit it properly so I tried again. It was deleted, so I tried a different location. It was deleted again. Then I thought, this is strange, let me read what it says about posting (since on my website, anyone can comment and as I said, I am not tech savvy). Then I read and saw that I was clearly in violation of posting in those places so I posted to off-topic. I really have no idea how that was considered inappropriate for the "off-topic" section. Then I posted here to ask what I did wrong because I am trying to conduct myself appropriately and you yelled at me? How is that ok? I don't make money off of my blog, I was just trying to share information with other parents. I cant believe how I just got scolded for trying to post something interesting that your readers might enjoy. B |
I want to add, that I am sorry that I did not follow your protocol and that I as a parent was just trying to share fun places that I have been with my kids and learn from others of good places to take my kid. I thought that this was what this website was about but I guess I was mistaken. I will not post anything on here again and I guess I will find other places to share my ideas and to learn about others ideas. B |
Again, I left your initial post in the travel forum alone. I don't know why you believe that it disappeared. Then, I found two posts from you in the General Parenting Discussion forum (posted 10 minutes apart). At that point, I deleted all three. After that, I found and deleted the post in the Off-Topic forum.
The purpose of this website is to allow parents to share information. The purpose is not to advertise other websites. Could you imagine what our forums would be like if every blogger who writes about parenting topics posted multiple messages encouraging our users to visit their blog? |
Again, I am sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just having trouble determining which was the right place to post and didn't know how to delete my old posts. I didn't mean to make it spam or seem like spam. I thought that spam was only if you are selling something (as I said before, I am new to blogs and things like this). I am sorry that I was not allowed to do this, and I won't post my website again. Can you give me some guidance as to where I could post my blog so that I could share my experiences with other parents and so that other parents can share their experiences as well? I am just looking for new places to go and to share where we have been. B |
To be honest, if I were in your shoes trying to find readers for a new blog, I wouldn't know where to begin. There are a number of people here who know a heck of a lot more about blogging than I do. Maybe they have some suggestions. You are welcome to start a discussion in the "off-topic" forum about how to get readers for a new blog (without using that as a means of advertising your blog, of course).

Jeff-the Unaproachable Nanny thread in Nanny discussions-is this for real or is someone just playing around? The OP comes back time and again (if it is the OP) sounding more and more ridiculous almost as if they were begging to get flamed. Is this whole thread fake? Can you tell? |
There are a large number of posts from that IP address that seem to be written by a nanny (e.g. starting out saying "I'm a nanny..."). So, any of the following scenarios are possible: 1) The poster is a parent who occasionally masquerades as a nanny; 2) The poster is a nanny who occasionally masquerades as a parent; or 3) This is my favorite: The nanny accesses DCUM from her employer's computer which is why she is moody and unapproachable. But, the bottom line is that I have no idea what's going on with that poster. |
Thanks for answering |
