Gate Checking Phil & Ted's

We are headed to the beach next week and I'd really like to bring my Phil & Ted's- problem is, I need the stroller for getting through the airport as I will be alone with my 2 and 4 year-olds and don;t have extra hands to carry anyone/anything. I am wondering if it is unrealistic to think I can get the stroller through security and then gate check it or if it is just too big and heavy...

I have done it with my Bob and there are a couple of posts on that with tips. Try searching for them...

Just traveled with my P & T. I asked at security for them to hand check it as it is a pain to take apart and fold, they had no problem with it. At the gate I strapped the doubles seat to the frame of the main stroller with a small bungee cord, at least with our model, you can not fold the stroller with the second seat attached. Really had no problems and was happy to have it at my final destination

I gate checked my Phil & Ted's on two AA flights. Folded, it fit (a close fit) through the security x-rays. No problems except the handle must have caught on something during the second flight. The foam is now ripped.

What did you decide to do? How did it go?
