On a few occasions I've been in different stores and remembered that I wanted to find an eye-cream. I go to the Olay section, because my friend said it got good reviews and every time its either locked up or there is a sign that its behind the customer service desk! WTF?! I don't have time for this, I think. Then it happens at a new store. Are people seriously that desperate for eye cream and why just the Olay products?
What stores are you going to? I've seen Olay products at Target....just go there!
It depends on the store location and the paranoia of the manager... at my CVS, the razor refills and pregnancy tests are under lock and key... very annoying when I'm in a hurry.
Probably depends on the store. I don't think I've seen that in the CVS, Rite Aids or Targets I've been to. Could be that the creams are packaged in smaller sizes, making it easier to shoplift.
I used to head up Loss Prevention for a major store. Things are locked up because inventory results show that they are disappearing more quickly than other items. In many cases, it's due to professional shoplifting rings who then resell it. What gets locked up can vary from store to store, location to location.
Yes, organized crime rings steal these types of products and then sell them on online auction sites as a way to make money to fuel other crimes. It is a big problem for retailers.
