Help me remember/identify this candy..

Anonymous
Everytime I eat or see pomegranate seeds, I get this vague deja vu/flash back to eating some kind of candy in my childhood. I think they were reddish, similar in size to pomegranate seeds, though I can't say for sure if they were translucent or opaque. Kind of like red hots in appearance, but they were not cinnamon flavored or hard, more gummy like. This ring any bells for anyone? I've googled by come up empty.

Was it the original "fruit snacks"? Before welches, before fruit by the foot, but maybe around the time fruit roll ups came out, there were these little packs of fruit gummies. They were all one flavor (grape or berry or something) and the shape was kind of like a cross between a tic tac and rodent droppings. Could that be it?

The packaging was very plain for the individual pouches. I think they were white or tan with "Sunkist" printed on it. Papery on the outside and I think maybe foil lined on the inside.

Giant brand fruit snacks still look like these!

Can I just say that I love pp's description? Very descriptive and foodie-like, then drops in at the end "shape was kind of like a cross between tic tacs and rodent droppings". I love you, pp.

(Sorry, I don't remember the fruit snacks at all, have nothing more to add here after worshipping pp)

You're taking me back! Now I wonder what other things from my childhood I have forgotten. Those were the treat in my lunch box for a couple of years.
