What does 10% travel actually equate to?

Job description says 10% percent travel. Does that mean one to two times a year?

I’d guess more like once every other month but the only way you really know is to interview and ask

Many jobs underestimate the amount of travel. I would clarify in the interview.

Definitely clarify in the interview. And ask about the nature of the travel: how many nights at a time, domestic or international, is it planned in advance like a conference, or is relatively last-minute travel for meetings?

My last job said 10 percent travel and it meant a week-long trip to the organization’s annual meeting.

My current job says 30 percent and I am on the road almost every other week, usually on trips planned 3-7 days ahead of time.

I would assume that 10% travel would mean 10% of nights. So if you work 250 days it would be a single night every other week, or 5 week long trips, or something else adding up to about 25 nights away from home.

To me it would mean 2 nights a month.
