Silver Star gymnastics

Anyone have experience, good or bad? Our 9 year old DD is interested and has ASD and ADHD

It can be really really crazy busy there. And, by 9, they have decided who their superstars are... we bowed out by age 4 with our ASD/ADHD child.

But, your daughter is showing interest, so let her try it. But just know that it is a very popular activity and very packed. And I didn't feel like my child got any kind of personal attention since they must have seen they weren't dealing with a future Olympian!

you should try MoCo movement or Dynamite gym-- much better.

Not nice moms.

I did not think the instruction there was good, SN or not. MoCo Movement or Fitness for Health.

Freestate gymnastics is low-key, small, and warm and nurturing. Our DD8 has been going since 3 yo. I see lots of kids who will clearly not be Olympians but are treated the same as others and are having fun.

PP here on Freestate - suggest going when the team is not practicing.

Op here: thanks for the suggestions. My DD got turned off by MoCo movement on a visit and refuses to go back. Those of you with ASD kids will understand that ship has sailed and not worth the battle. She liked a visit to Fitness for Health years ago when we were looking into B Social Kids, but do they have classes? She specifically asked for a gymnastics class with other kids, which is amazing so we want to try that. We live in SS so Gaithersburg would be tough.

At that age, your best bet is Dynamite. Most kids by 4-5-6 drop out and those places pretty much just take in older and other kids who are not team as a money maker. We dropped out at 6. Silver Stars was the worst for us. My kid absolutely hated it but did great a tother ones.

I would try open gyms at dynamite and marva tots n teens.

Ask to a drop in class at each.

Silver Stars treated my SN DD badly. We had a much better experience at Dynamite.

SS usually will let you do a practice class before committing to the entire session so maybe consider doing that. I think at age 9 they still have a low key class that meets just once a week.
