Came across this article, and what seemed interesting is that California is so blue not because there some white liberal progressive people in abundance, but because of the influx of Latino voters combined with the exodus of the white working class in the 1990s.

Where in that article does it say there was an exodus of white working class? (God I hate that term)
A lot of people thought Latinx would be a good fit with Republicans. I think it would be more accurate to say the reason CA is a blue state is the anti-immigrant rhetoric which drove Latinx voters to the democrats. |
Yep, this is it. Words and actions have consequences. |
| Asian Americans used to vote R. Not anymore. |
Please stop with that Latinx Anglo stupidity. We are Latinos and Latinas. |
And, together, when you want to be gender neutral, Latinx IS the proper English spelling. It does NOT become Latinos (male dominated, patriarchal society). Hispanics is fine, but lots of LatinX become enraged for no reason. |
You don't speak Spanish, do you? Go troll some crazy folks in Russia. It's quite simple. We are Latinos and Latinas, and Latin@s if you want to go cute. Latinx is what anglos say when they want to display their ignorance. |
| I think it’s reasonanle to project out fro this that, no later than 20 years from now, the US will be as deep blue as CA. Trump’s election was the death rattle spit up of the white male voter. |
| Because they all bullied each other into being progressive. Now it’s a competition. |
Everything goes in cycles. It will swing back and forth. |
Kind of like how Trump would never win |
+100000 CA is going through a big progressive cycle with lots of enthusiasm, but eventually people will tire of it or become more weary, and vote moderate. |
Or realize their lives aren't improving |
Or are in fact going Down. The drain. |
| Latinx is LaToya's sister. |
