Confused by reading levels in K

DD could read easy beginner level books before starting K and is now bringing home books on a Friday to read at home. The 3 she has brought home so far say level D. I am not sure what this means, I looked online and it says the levels are numbers not letters.
Does anyone know what D translates too?
