I have no views on this guy but I absolutely know men who have pushed their wives for 4+ kids. Usually to get a son, but also because it makes them feel like virile providers.

My DH would have loved to have 4 kids. We stopped at 2 because i insisted. He's a very very involved dad. Coaches both my kids teams, nearly year round. Gets them ready for school most mornings, pack lunches, fills out most all school forms, is outside playing with them after school/work nearly every day, is very affectionate, and overall demonstrates every single day that he loves being a parent.
