Coach is new and doesn't know the kids names or positions and the first game is in 10 days. To boot the technical director was promoted to the pro team Head Coach earlier today, so I am sure his time with the DA teams will be extremely limited. Practice fields are overcrowded and the girls sit for 1/3rd of the practice because there are just too many players. Everyone is regretting the decision to go with Spirit this year.

I posted this on another thread and thought since it was a cut and paste of this exact post, I'd move it to here:

A couple of things:

1. The teamsnap is at 28, but the roster is not (and this is all very specific to the 04 group). That's not even legal within the DA. A portion of those girls are EDP and are on both teamsnaps. Ultimately the DA roster will be 18-20. None of the other teams have that many (in most cases because there is no EDP).
2. I was there yesterday and never saw girls in any age group sitting other than when they went to get water and to say 1/3 of practice is at best a gross exaggeration.
3. I will acknowledge Mondays are a day they need to work on simply because that's the one day all the teams are at Lake Fairfax. Wednesdays the U19s are elsewhere and Thursdays don't have the U13s (who practice on Fridays). That said, there was really only one small period of some congestion when the U13s & 14s were wrapping up while the U15s and 17s were showing up (which is partly mitigated by the fitness training).
4. Also, I would give Tom Torres a chance to work out the promotion before we start crapping on it as if he's already gone.

As a Spirit parent from last year, I actually think things are overall much better than last year and it's one practice. Give time (and perhaps feedback to Spirit directly) about the Monday practices. We practiced last Wednesday and Thursday without any of these issues so while I'm sure there are some kinks to work out, it's not quite as this post reads, respectfully. This sounds more like a panicked parent to me.

There will be 18 on gameday only. Doesn't change the fact that practices and scrimmages are at 28. Interested to know how you think the NJ scrimmages were handled.

50 kids on a field isnt development. Thats not going to change. The lack of a true team practice is why Spirit will continually decline and why others like Loudoun will excel. You cant expect a team to play soccer when they dont practice soccer tactics, positional responsibilities, etc. Practicing on a 10 x10 square every day makes them good at passing in a 10x10 square.

Spirit has 2 forces on either side of them. Loudoun and Arlington. They will start losing players. It will happen. I've seen it time and time again with programs that underestimate parents.

Ahhh! I was wondering which agenda you had. Loudoun it is. Don't worry about us. Enjoy life in the tier 2 of ECNL, competing against VDA and the like.

Not one spirit team could beat a Loudoun team

Ouch

Forgive my ignorance, but aren't these clubs in different leagues? I thought Spirit was in DA. Have they moved to ECNL? I am not sure I understand why Loudoun parents are talking smack to Spirit parents on these boards. Or is it my league is better than yours type of banter?

Yawn. No one cares what you think. Now get back to tossing off over your decision to stay with Loudoun.

Loudoun will beat every Spirit team after everyone leaves Spirit for Loudoun...which is going to happen under the current WS enviroment.

If folks are going to leave Spirit do it sooner than later, and get on with life versus whining here everyday.

This is just the bored custodian from the other thread. Just ignore him, he'll be too busy scrubbing toilets in a few weeks to keep posting BS.

What I can tell you is Spirit has former Loudoun players who I asked if they would consider going back to Loudoun. They say no. They are happy with Spirit. And these were players who up to Spirit, had always, always been with Loudoun.

+1. Leave. Better for Spirit so you don't drag everyone down with your negativity, and better for you since you are so unhappy.

Honestly so can the VA teams. He also thinks Loudoun teams can beat FCV and joining the ECNL is a game changer for his club. Don't waste your time.

FCV is the bottom of the barrel in NOVA. Nobody wants to go there - mainly because coaches stink and parents are fools.

I wonder if FCV will eventually fold?
