They have three tactics when playing: kick long to the big kid, foul, and flop. The team has a few players with skills but instead they just kick and run. Good luck to those couple of big fast kids when everybody else hits puberty and too bad for the couple of kids that could do better and instead have to play like some desperate short sighted pay to play club. Then again DC was so recently pay to play maybe they haven’t gotten it out of their system.

This perspective on DCUs style of play is supported elsewhere on this thread and other threads talking about the lack of quality in the instruction and coaching at DCU. You saw that this weekend against Red Bulls where once again they were outclassed from minute 1 to the end in pretty much all the age groups and in every way DCU has some quality kids it's just that they are in an environment where growing as a player is very difficult. Especially when compared to what is happening elsewhere. If you're a parent and DCU is considering your son and you are considering DCU, please do your homework and make sure that if you do decide to go there that you have a plan outside of DCU to make him better. The hardest thing about this is that they monopolize so much of your kids time that there isn't much else he can do but you have to try. This is why the investment in DCU is just a gamble because their investment in your kid and what they are offering your kid is just really poor. For that much time, you have to ask yourself is it worth it if you have other options. And, if you have a high level player, you must consider other options for him if you're serious about a professional pathway. DCU is just not a good organization and the academy has been proven to be beneath its peers in the MLS. If DCU is your only option, use it to make another move or if you have to stay there make sure you're on top of your kids development and set your own high standards to measure his progress and how you will measure that progress. Without that, leaving it up to DCU is a massive mistake.

How exactly did they hurt you personally?
So we can understand the seeds of your smear campaign and axe grinding.

It's obviously a personal obsession.

I agree with the PP. You’re welcome to report the PP and say it’s one person posting but the reality is quite a few different posters are posting similar things. You’re the one trolling and obsessed with making it personal by attacking posters instead of sharing anything positive about DCUA. But you’re doing parents a service by reviving this thread over and over again so to remind parents to view DCUA warily. Good job on that!

Who in their right minds serious about soccer with a kid in the dmv top performers gonna read this thread and make decisions on where their kid will or won't go?

It forces them to reach out to current and past parents to verify what they’ve read. It’s easy to hang on to everything DCUA says since they want your kid so I know many families don’t do the research esp for families who have no background in soccer. But for sure, parents, talk to actual people and verify what is shared on this board. As everyone should regardless of thread topic.

Funny
My kid is academy level quality baller and I'm going to use a message board filled with the opinions of non soccer experts to decide his or her faith?
.

Sure, maybe we're not soccer experts. That's why we come here for some info right. But do you really need to be an expert to know if a club is good or not? And I'll just say that we do have kids in the academy system, past and present. If you don't want to take any advice, that's your choice. However, I don't see how you people can still say everything stated is opinions. There's a list of facts on this thread that you're ignoring.

You're right. You don't need any football expertise to know that when a club has been around for 30 years, running an academy for 20 of those years, and still has no facility for their academy players, then it isn't a serious operation. Couple that with the fact that every other club in the MLS has an academy facility, some of which have been around for 4 years or less, and it becomes even more obvious. It's like someone saying they are serious about becoming a professional musician but they own no instruments. Yeah, could you rent an instrument (like DCU does with its fields) but then it begs the question, how committed are you to perfecting your craft (ie building a pro)? Especially when you have the money and ability to buy what you need. These are conclusions you can draw about DCU with absolutely no experience in the sport.

Just like the rest of the majority here, if dc academy comes calling, my kid is going

The keyboard warriors here won't change that

If it works for you, that's cool. A lot of people probs feel the same way. My view is the PP just wants people to make educated decisions. If that is DCU, great.

Of course your kid is going, no one said not to. The point is that if you get multiple offers, weigh your options carefully. If DCU is your only offer, take it. You should read through the thread before replying.

Stop being ridiculous and unrealistic!

How many kids in the dmv are going to get multiple offers to join MLS academies elsewhere?
All those other academies have good players in their own regions.

You think its advice to tell all of us here whos kid won't even be invited to DC Academy that we should be considering other academies?
The majority of us can't even get into SYC or Achilles.
Get Real!
Silly

Many DMV kids have gotten multiple offers and will continue to do so. Do you even know there are a bunch of DMV kids at other academies?

If your DS isn't academy level or can't even get into SYC or Achilles, wtf are you responding to this thread for? It obviously doesn't apply to you guys. Get real, stay in your lane.

Sorry not the PP but this one. We know THIS is the troll masquerading as another poster. Any post that is kind of a fake humble brag about kid being selected at DCU...

Many kids is a flat out lie.

Why not just say some or a few kids?
It's the truth and doesn't ruin your credibility.

Now we're talking about semantics and the difference between "many" and "a few"??? You really have nothing...I know you're not talking about credibility????
