Hi everyone. Over summer, I was diagnosed with DOR (AMH 0.76, FSH 10.4), sub-clinical hypothyrodism, and immune issues. At my RE's suggestion, I have been taking supplements to improve quality / quantity of eggs for 2-3 months before TTC'ing again: prenatal vitamins, fish oil, vitamin d, vitamin e, CoQ10, DHEA, melatonin, bee pollen, royal jelly, myo-inositol, A-arginine, and pycnogenol. I've also gone mostly gluten and grain free (but I don't have celiac disease).
It's been 7 weeks since this regimen and now my menstrual period is delayed by a week. I've always been regular - 28 days although it was getting a bit shorter over the last 5 months to 25-26 days. Has anyone experienced delayed menstrual period? I took HPT and I am not pregnant. I would also love to hear whether these supplements have helped with egg quality / quantity improvements. p.s. I am also having my life's worst constipation despite incredible amount of veggies I eat with this new diet.

| DHEA could possibly mess with your cycle. |

I am on several of these supplements and also have DOR. Are you being monitored at all? I think there is a good chance they are lengthening your cycle because they are pushing your ovulation later - which is ideally to give the eggs more time to grow. Melatonin does often delay ovulation, however its not an issue when you're being monitored because your RE keeps track of everything to time it all right.
So if you aren't trying now maybe at least use an OPK to try to see what's happening with your ovulation? |
| I'd stay away from l-arginine. It really ducked with the quality of my eggs. Granted I'm not DOR so maybe had no business taking it but when you've been dealing with infertility you sometimes do anything. I took it for a few months between ivf cycles and it seriously messed up my egg quality as evidenced by poor fertilization and lots of fragmentation, neither of which were problems in my first ivf cycle. The only supplement I take and recommend is ubiquinol, although I have a friend whose been on dhea and gotten pregnant a few times naturally despite being in her 40s but nothing has stuck. |
Thanks all. OP here. I am guessing that my ovulation was late based on observing my vaginal mucous (didn't bother to test for ovulation as I was enjoying a break from actively trying to conceive
I have modified the supplements and now taking just the vitamins, coQ10, and DHEA. I sincerely hope that these supplements are going to help improve my numbers next cycle when we will have monitored TTC naturally. |

Definitely make sure you are being monitored. Especially given the power of DHEA.
I take CoQ10 as well and always buy a water and fat-soluble form to ensure that my body is actually absorbing it. Just a tip! |
