5'5, 125 - help me with sizes

Anonymous
After a lifetime of being a bit too thin (usually 105), I've settled into a new body after three kids, which is pretty normal sized but with no waist to speak of. I like my fuller self (mainly because that old adage is true and my face looks better) but have no clue what sizes to wear from various brands. I know my measurements but know that they don't mean much these days with vanity sizing.

I'm hoping to place a few online orders and get out of yoga pants and back into normal clothes in the next couple of weeks. I usually like Ann Taylor-level things (Boden, Talbots, Macy's INC line) - nothing too fancy but nothing too casual. Any body doppelgangers out there who can share what sizes they wear?

This is my height and weight exactly . . .although it is pretty thin on me, so not sure what you mean by "no waist to speak of"?? At any rate I am usually a 4 in Ann Taylor clothing. I recall INC line running a little smaller (less vanity sizing) so I would guess a 6 there.

Those are my exact measurements, too, but I'm a pear shape with a defined waist, which can make pants a bit tricky for me. I am a 4/S in most Ann Taylor clothing, but some pants might require me to go a size up depending on the cut. In other comparable brands, I am usually a size 4/S in dresses and tops. Pants could be a 4 or a 6. In jeans, I'm a size 28. For higher end brands (Theory, Vince), I can usually wear a size 4/s on top but am consistently a size 6 in the bottoms.

I always order both sizes when buying clothing online.

I'm 5'3 weigh 125 and I'm a solid size 4.

5’4, 125, I also am usually a 4, sometimes a 6. I used to shop a lot at the Limited and was a solid 4/small. At Loft, I often fit into a 2 because I think their clothes run a little bit larger. In things like leggings or tight workout pants I prefer a medium. I do have a little bit of booty.

I'm about the same. I'm usually a size 4, but it does vary a lot. I got a Ann Taylor dress and had to get a 0! It was a full skirt style and the top was just very baggy unless I went all the way down in size. On the other hand, in some brands I need a 6 in pants because they are tight through the read-end or thighs. Lands End size 4 pants usually fit pretty well, but other than that I try not to order pants online because it is so random what will fit through the waist and hips. As far as sizes, I think it's a big difference if you are 125 pounds and a A cup on top, versus 125 pounds and a DD. If I'm shopping for shirts or dresses that have a full bottom, I usually order the smallest size they sell (a zero or a 2) but that's because all my weight in in my bottom half.

I'm exactly the same stats and wear a very consistent small in tops. Pants I am either a 4 or 6 depending on brand. In dresses and skirts I stay between a 2 and 4 depending on cut.

At Boden, I think I'd put you in a 6Petite, maybe a 4Petite.

I'm a 5'4" 120 lb Boden fan and consistently wear a 4 regular. At 5'5" I'd definitely go with regular. To some degree the size depends on the style, fabric, your body shape, and the reviews (does it fit small / have stretch etc.)

It depends on your shape. I have the same stats, wear a size 6 on top but a size 10 pants. I have a really big but. (I also hate tight clothes)

I'm the PP. Also 5'4" and I always wear the petite. I think they fit me so much better. Helps to show that these numbers don't say much. You have to try them on and see what works best for your body and your style. The nice part about Boden is they give you a long time to do free returns.

Boden runs short-waisted so if you are long waisted definitely don't do the petite. I'm 5'4" and I sometime do the fall in their dresses just so the waist hits my natural waist.
Returns for Boden are 90 days after which they give you store credit.

Me too. Size 4. Mostly Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein.

Same size here, but I am a little curvy - hips (and thighs) and bust, with a defined waist. I'm a 4 in more expensive clothes that run large, a 6 in cheaper clothes that tend to run smaller, and usually a small top and medium bottoms (because of my hips and thighs). In higher-end dresses, I can even be a 2 just because of the cut of the dress. I don't buy any petities. I find that the just fall a little too short.

I'm about the same size, no real waist, and a 32dd on top. I usually wear a 4 in Boden (but might do a 6 if it was a style I wanted a little looser), and a 4 in Ann Taylor (although some pieces will run randomly very large). I'm wearing 4 Banana Republic pants-and I usually get R length and then have them hemmed because the Petite sizes just don't work for my body and a just a tiny bit too short.
