Question for my DOR friends out there... have you ever had really early recruitment of a follicle and did your RE mention anything about egg quality when that happens?
I am on CD 5 and have a 20mm follicle. My RE thought it may be a cyst but she thinks it is in fact a follicle now (it was 18mm on CD3 and E2 was 208, now it's 20mm and E2 is 225). Since I am so early in my cycle, I don't have time to take any meds so she is recommending triggering tonight and then doing an IUI on Saturday. Problem is that my insurance doesn't cover non-medicated IUIs so I would have to pay OOP, which is $950. My RE said she recommends doing the IUI if we are okay with the cost, but said when it comes to early recruitment sometimes the egg can be poor quality, so my chances this cycle are already lower than normal. Not sure I want to suck it up and spend almost $1,000 for something that isn't likely to work. So just curious if anyone knows anything about early recruitment and what you would do in this case. |

I was also told that early recruitment means poor egg quality. I have mild DOR and ovulate around day 9-10. I've been TTC for 32 months, zero pregnancies.
There's Ganirilex that helps with premature ovulation but not sure if they would use that just for an IUI as opposed to IVF. For me I was already getting large follicles by day 5 and did my IUIs on day 9. |
Thanks, my RE says I am too far gone at this point to try to stop ovulation (my LH has already started to rise a little). I typically ovulated around day 10/11 so this is just crazy early. This is so frustrating!! |
| IUI isn't likely to work anyway, just pay the $1000, it will be well worth it if it does work. I always O early so it's not that crazy. |
| Can you just trigger and do timed intercourse? I don't think IUI adds much over and beyond the trigger and timed intercourse. |
| Do TI this cycle for free. I'm DOR and even though I've pushed my O back to day 12/13 my RE has confirmed I'm ovulating 13 and 14mm follicles. This is the curse of DOR. Wait for a medicated cycle w 2 or 3 follicles. |
| Are you sure it isn't a cyst? Your E2 has hardly moved at all. The change in follies size could be based purely on different measurers. Let them track you Daily this cycle to see what's going on. |
OP again, I am worried it is a cyst but my RE didn't think so because she said a cyst shouldn't be growing at this point (I wasn't on meds or anything this cycle), it would either stay the same size of get smaller. But I am not sure if that is 100% true. Also, she called me on Thursday afternoon and said my LH is 35 so I should be ovulating any time. Does LH still rise due to cysts or no? Just not sure what to think here and hate to waste a cycle. |
If you have intercourse you won't be wasting the cycle |
| The only cycle I got pregnant on was one where I was ahead of timeline and triggered and did IUI next day. It was medicated cycle but it was the only one that worked. So, I would say do it |
No I don't think your LH would rise if it was a cyst and 35 is ovulation range. |
