| Any recommendations for something that will hide mild acne scars and looks somewhat natural? TIA. |
|
Sometimes the easiest, least time consuming and less expensive thing to do in the long run is to see a dermatologist for solutions if the scars bother you. There is so much they can do these days that is very easy.
For a product suggestion, Bare Escentuals. They do a number of products that would work. It covers but is invisible and simply makes you look like you have natural skin. Anything else - liquid or creme foundations or concealer will only highlight the scars by adding thickness and it will make you appear older. |
| OP here. Thanks for the suggestion. I am seeing a derm but as we are TTC I can't take the more drastic measures (laser, Fraxel etc) until later, so I am looking for a makeup solution to get me through until then. Any suggestions where to buy it, where someone can help me select product and show me how to apply? |
|
Why wouldn't you be able to get laser just because you are TTC? Just curious.

| Dermablend covers scars and discoloration very well. It is sometimes available in stores but i usually have to get it online. |
Not because I am TTC, but I break out a lot when pregnant and might scar again so it's a waste of money (going to cost thousands) to do it now if I'm hopefully pregnant soon. |
Does it look natural? I remember my sister using it in the 90s for a surgical scar and it always looked cakey and heavy to me. Maybe the formulation is better now? |
| I would try Revlon ColorStay - it looks natural but really stays on, and can be layered subtlely where needed. |
| Another vote for Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals. I have dark, acne prone skin and theyve been a life saver for me. For concealer I use honey bisque (it comes in 2 lighter shades) underneath my foundation. If I'm having a very bad outbreak I might put a little on top as well before finishing with mineral veil. You can buy their starter kit almost anywhere... I know I've seen it in Target and I think I might have seen it in CVS. It doesn't come with bisque but it does have 2 different shades of foundation; you can use the lighter one for a concealer in a pinch. |
I haven't had any trouble with it but I apply it pretty sparingly with a make up sponge and it blend it well. It doesnt take much to cover effectively. I find the thinner ones just don't have the coverage although I use the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer as a starting point and then Dermablend just to cover a few spots. |
| A pp here. I was going to recommend Dermablend but it is rather opaque. Anything in a cream or liquid foundation is not going to look natural. Bare Escentuals can be layered and still look natural. If you're near Tysons, go to their store for help. Otherwise, Nordstrom's and then lastly, Sephora. Don't buy it online until you know what shade you are. 7 out of every 10 women wear the wrong color - it's important to have it professionally matched up. |
| Clinique! I swear by it for EVERYTHING. GO to the makeup counter, tell them what you want and need and they will hook you up! They also give you an few options so you have different looks/styles to choose from! |
| Another vote for Dermablend. My FIL was a plastic surgeon and it's what his cosmetologist used for all his patients. If you apply it sparingly, it doesn't look opaque or cakey at all. Best of all, it really does work!! |
| OP here. Thanks for all the suggestions. I went to Bare Escentuals in Tysons this weekend and was really disappointed - my current liquid foundation does a better job of concealing and my skin really isn't that bad! When she finished my skin looked like somone put tinted pressed powder on it, there was no real coverage. I'm going to try Dermablend next and see what that does ... |
| Have you tried Mac Studio Fix? Great colors, and the coverage can be built up. |
