Do you chew steel cut oatmeal?

Anonymous
Kind of disgusted with myself. After years of eating it, today I noticed I pretty much swallow spoonfuls without chewing. No adverse effects, but I wonder about whether I should try to be more mindful and chew. Do you?

Don't worry, OP.

I'm not sure if it's really chewing, but I do sort of smoosh it around in my mouth to savor the flavor before swallowing. Just like I do with soups, wine, coffee, or anything else that I like the taste of but doesn't really require chewing.

I prefer oat bran, which is even smoother than steel cut oats. I chew it, but I don't think it's wrong not to. It's not a choking hazard.

It might be considered rude if you're invited to breakfast with the queen. Beyond that, who cares?

You don't have to chew if you don't want to. I hardly chew anything, due to lack of molars, (a work in progress), and have been surprised at how well my body handles it.

No. They are made for old people to gum.

I just eat raisin bran, it tastes better. I do chew it.
