I am buying: one blazer, one white button down shirt, two pencil skirts (one black and one brown) and a pair of black boots.

In terms of trends, I think you are seeing a lot of menswear and 80s influence, so a lot of suits and pants. And I am afraid that shoulder pads are back in fashion, ugh I won't be wearing that! You are still seeing a lot of leggings... In terms of colors, I think there is a lot of black, but also some bold colors e.g. purple, blue, and red seem to be big. In terms of footwear, platforms seem to be popular. I also am seeing a lot of over the knee boots (not a look I can pull off!)

I think what you want to buy depends on your needs and style. I am really into blazers now. They are great for work but also great with jeans. If you are into color, you may want to get something in a bold type color and wear it with your black, thats a nice way to modernize this look.
