SO....First week is almost over - how did it go?

How was everyone's first week?

If you wouldn't mind listing your school and child's grade, that would be helpful!

TIA!

My child started 1st grade in an upper NW school. I know it is only the first week, but I was not impressed with the coloring sheets brought home. I am a little worried that my child will not be challenged enough. I'll just try to relax and see what happens over the next month.

Oyster kindergarten. Pick-up and drop-off is kind of a cattle call, and there isn't the greatest flow of information, but basically we're as in love as the day we set eyes on it and decided to buy our home in boundary.

--The children all appear to be happy and well-behaved, even in our drop-off chaos, and DD already has about 4 "best friends"
--Spanish has really piqued my little girl's interest. It's cool to see her little brain processing something new
--my first glimpses of the teachers seem to show sweet and gentle people
--the facility is gorgeous
--my daughter is very happy and has had only good things to say
--our friends who are also in K are reporting the same, though a couple of kids are kind of overwhelmed by Spanish
--we love walking to school together in our own neighborhood
--after a great preschool with a homogeneous population, I am very happy to see brown and black faces amongst my little one's peers
--when you see the parents chatting around school, you know that this is a true community; we are happy to be a part of it

Someone ought to write an "Oyster 101" about the little things they expect you to just figure out, like signing up to bring snack. And I wish back-to-school night was sooner than 9/22.

But all in all, I can see that this was a great choice for our family. My daughter is so at home already.

Murch 1 and 3-- excellent all around. teacher has already spoken to me about concerns i had brought up with her before school started and has spent time evaluating dc. we are very impressed.
Deal 6- with much anxiety our oldest stated there and LOVEs it. has interesting, inspired homework assignments. they had a very well organized orientation with a concurrent parent orientation/info session before school starts.
