I'm supposed to help elderly relatives look for a 2BR apartment in Northern NJ and don't know the market well. Possible towns they named include Chatham, Short Hills, Berkeley Heights, Summit, New Providence... They'll probably want to be not too far from Overlook Hospital and are fixed income. One capable driver.
Google brought me to Trulia. Is that the best place to start, or does anyone know if there are good local options to start from? |
When I moved to North Jersey, I used realtor.com to search for rentals. You often have to go thru a real estate agent for house or condo rentals. I doubt renting at an apartment complex requires a realtor, but their listings are included on sites like realtor.com. |
If you run searches on Trulia you'll get out of date listings, but you will find out which realtors are listing the ones you like the look of (aside from those listed by owner) and then can contact them directly to work on your behalf. That's what I recommend. |
I would look at for rent on zillow.com
Those towns aren't really known for having a lot of apartment complexes though. Looks like from a quick search of Chatham and Summit that they would be looking at least $2000 a month for rent. |
