| I am waiting to get in to see my OB after getting beta levels back this afternoon. I had a positive test at 5 weeks from LMP with HCG of 700. Tested a week later and it was apparently only 3800 at that point - not by what would have been expected if was doubling every 48 hours. My doctor is out of the office today so I'm left waiting until she is back tomorrow to have levels checked again and/or sonogram. Having previously had a miscarriage at 8-9 weeks, I'm super anxious that it is happening again. Anyone had similarly slow rising beta and pregnancy turned out to be fine? |
| I don't have any personal experience, but I think 3800 is in the normal range for 6 weeks. As you get further along, the numbers stop doubling every 48 hours. [Although I'm not sure exactly how high they need to be.] At 6 weeks, an ultrasound would probably give you more information than a beta number. Good luck! |
| Mine were on the lower end, in the 10th percentile, and didn't quite double every 48 hours. Now 25 weeks and healthy so, it can happen. |
| Yes. Mine never doubled and were even outside the range but that little nine month old woke up singing in her crib at 426 this morning. |
| As hcg gets higher it stops doubling within 48 hours, so this is less of an issue than if hcg hadn't doubled in the first week. |

Assuming your draws were actually a week apart, then your doubling time is about 2.9 days or 69 hours.
Mine, at the same time, was slower (80 hours) and everything worked out OK. See here: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/543490.page#8597564 Your absolute numbers are a bit lower than average (but not, by any means outside of the range of normal); but also, if you don't track when you ovulate that closely, you may just be slightly less far along than you thought (being 3 or 4 days off would put you solidly in the average range). |

Thank you all who replied with personal experience that worked out! (congrats on your little Ines and good luck with your pregnancies!)
Trying to distract myself until I can get into Dr tomorrow! |

My DD had a 81 hour beta doubling time, but that turned out well. (Stressful at the time, of course, because we all want the perfect 48 hour doubling time, but a lot of factors are at play.)
For my missed m/c my numbers dropped dramatically and quickly. Good luck, OP! |
| i did IVF, so my betas were very precise. my betas at 21DPO were always around 2000-2100 (3 pregnancies now, 3 IVF pregnancies, all tested very accurate dates). not sure where that math puts me on 6 weeks because i had betas at 4w0d, 4w2d, and 5w0d... |
| Yes - I was super worried as my numbers were slowly rising but all was fine |
| Any update OP? Hope it went well yesterday! |
| OP here. Poster above, thank you for checking in - so nice of you. I went in for sonogram and all looked well, just dating about a week behind where expected based on LMP. There's a heartbeat though, so that's encouraging! Will check back again in another week to make sure heartbeat is still there. Fingers crossed, still, but hopeful! |
| Yes. |
