handbags: is plum out? (it is, isn't it?) what about hobo bags?

I just started carrying a handbag this summer, and have just enough fashion sense to think that I don't want to carry a light-colored bag through the fall. Looking on overstock.com, I see a number of plum-colored bags--but is plum out now? Can anyone advise?

I also want a hobo bag style, which probably is out as well, but which I'll probably get anyways. Can anyone convince me not to?

I think Hobo and plum are both nice for fall. Go with what you like!

Clothing and accessories in the purple family are hot for this fall. But the bottom line is that you should only buy what you truly love.

Hobo never really goes "out" and anything truly trendy is probably not that useful.

And a deep plum is ALWAYS pretty in the fall, better than black!

I saw a ton of plum in the mall yesterday! I think it is a great color for the fall! Hobo's really never go out of style. If you love it, I say go for it!

I bought a plum hobo style bag from The Sak that is gorgeous - I get compliments on it left and right. There is a lot of plum/purple in the stores, so I would go for it!

I think Hobos are pretty much always "in." And purple/plum is actuallyl VERY big this fall.
