Infertility Support and Discussion
| I've had many fertility treatments in the past, including a few IVFs. I have one son, 14 months. I'm trying on my own a bit to see if it might work. You never know, right? Well I have 11 day LPs, and my progesterone levels were always fine. Could this be a problem other than progesterone? I usually ovulate on day 22 and get my period on day 33. I wish I could shorten my cycles or more specifically ovulate sooner. |

You might want to try acupuncture and herbs. I know that my cycles have straightened out because of acupuncture. I was talking to my acupuncturist this morning when we were talking about cycles and how to take herbs and how her goal is to get people to 28 day cycles. It is certainly a much more gentle way of going, if you are willing to try it.
It is just a thought. I am a big fan of acupuncture. I'm starting herbs tomorrow. I've never done the herbs before but there does seem to be a lot of evidence out there for herbs lowering FSH and straightening out cycles and generally making the ovaries work better. I see an RE too if this doesn't work. Just my $.02. |
| FWIW, I have always had a 12 day LP and I have had 2 healthy pregnancies. Good luck. |

I have an 11-12 day LP and have had 3 successful natural pregnancies.
(Sadly I am in the process of losing a chemical pregnancy right now, but I tested + at 12dpo thru 14dpo, so my LP was not the problem.) |
| This may be a really dumb question but...how do you know what your luteal phase is? I ovulate on either days 11-12 or 12-13 and my period usually starts on days 25, 26 or 27. I'm not exactly regular but always fall within this range. Do I have a normal luteal phase? |
|
Your luteal phase is just the number of days between ovulation day and the day you start your period. If you are charting basal body temperature you can see it clearly on your chart - it's the number of high temperature days after ovulation.
If you ovulate on cd 12 and your period starts on cd 26, then your LP would be 13 days (days 13-25), which is fine. If it is shorter than 10 days, that may be considered a luteal phase defect & you should talk to your doctor about it. |
| 10:49...thank you so much for answering my question! |
| 16:32 - who are you seeing for the herbs? |
| I am in a very similar situation. In fact, with trying naturally, I know that if my period has not come by Day 11 then I am pregnant. My ovulation day is averaging around 37 now, am in a 2ww myself now, will be able to test on Monday. I don't think it is considered a defect unless it is under 10 and your ovulation determination probably fluctuates by a day (12-36 hrs according to OPK's) so you may actually be closer to 12/12.5 luteal phase. Unless you go on meds, I don't think there is anyway of changing this variability. |
