Toddler has a rough/frizzy/dry patch of hair on back of head

Anonymous
My 16 month old boy is mixed with black and white. He has really curly hair. The back of his hair is very rough/dry/frizzy. I have seen this on some babies. My question is, will he outgrow this spot? Or are we supposed to cut his hair and let it regrow?

My daughter is also biracial white/black and has the same problem (8 mo old). I spray it with leave in conditioner ("it's a 10" product) and it makes it soft again! I wouldn't cut it.

Also it will pass, I think my daughters is from being in her car seat.

Both of my kids, one who has my stick straight hair and on who has DH's wavy hair, had that. I think it's from rubbing on the car seat, or maybe from rubbing on the bed or the floor or just from rubbing on everything. Our younger child had it until he was 4ish, but it's finally gone now.

Either cut it, if it's gotten too awful. Or put conditioner on it to help keep it less frizzed.

It's from the carseat and sleeping on their backs. It will eventually go away. There is nothing you need to do. It's from friction - that's why some babies have a bald spot back there.
