Orthodontics: Herbst or Twin Block Appliances?

Anonymous
I posted earlier in the Elementary forum but didn't get any responses. I'm hoping for feedback on either a Herbst appliance or Twin Block retainers to correct a severe overbite. Has your child used one or both of these? I'm hoping to hear some personal pros and cons to each. One orthodontist wants to do all three steps in one, and the other wants to do three things sequentially. I'm having a hard time deciding what is best.

My child had a twin block and it was miraculous.

It was a huge burden, but my kid's compliance was amazing.

This wasn't easy to get used to, very invasive, but it did the job.

Before you listen to me...

My kid's compliance was outstanding. He never forgot to wear it and he never lost it. Few kids are as compliant.

I would talk at length to the doctors about compliance, your kid's personality, and how easy it is to get in for appointments.

That said, your child clearly has a substantial problem to repair.
