Intro to PG County schools?

Anonymous
Can someone give me a primer on PG County schools? I see charter schools, immersion schools, montessori - etc. How does the process work? Where can my kid go besides the local neighborhood school? Transportation to these options?

Thanks all. We're going to be moving to the county early next year and trying to piece things together. Thanks.

There are two lotteries- one for charter schools and one for specialty schools (Montessori, immersion, performing arts.)

The lotteries are early in the calendar year. You'll need to go to a school to get a School ID number for your child if you plan to enter the lottery.

Generally there is transportation to specialty programs but not to charters. If you put your address into the school finder site you can see which specialty schools you could be able to attend.
