No, in fact, homeschool students are not allowed to take the SOLs. The state of Virginia, however, does require standardized testing as evidence of progress. So homeschool students have to take a different yearly test.

Homeschool mom here. Families have a choice of what yearly test they take. Most http I know do the CAT test which is pretty low key.
