I looked in the archives and saw a recommendation for Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites. The Busch Garden website takes me to Kingsmill resort. I plan to check Trip Advisor but wanted to ask this board. I don't mind paying $$ for nearby place especially a suite and if there is shuttle service to Busch. We went to Hershey and was so glad to stay at the lodge vice a nearby regular hotel.
Also, what did you think of Sesame Street Park in BG? I've heard so many negatives reviews of Sesame Place in PA that I thought BG would be a better choice. My DS is 2.5 yos and love water parks and is pretty fearless although he is shorter than 42 inches. TIA! |

We went to BG in June with a 4 yr. old and the Sesame Street area was great. There are about 4 rides, a show, meet and greets and the water splash area. We hit that area first thing in the morning and then did the water part when it was the hottest part of the day. Definitely worth it to me.
As for places to stay, we stayed at Kings Creek Plantation, a timeshare complex that also rents to whomever. It was spacious and gave us room to move around. In the past I've done the Embassy Suites and Homewood Suites, both were nice, and again we suite hotels so there was space. None have shuttles to the parks. |

Depends on how long you're going for and how much you want to spend. If you're only going for an overnight to visit Busch Gardens, I wouldn't waste money on a place like Kingsmill. The reason they suggest Kingsmill is because they own it. Really none of the hotels around the main drag of Williamsburg are that far away from the park. I think it took us ten minutes tops to drive back and forth.
We're headed down there soon for a second trip this season. DD, who'll be three soon, loved it as did we. The Sesame Street area is good with fun things for them to do, but that's not all they have. BG has done a great job of sprinkling child-friendly rides - non-Sesame Street - throughout the park so adults and kids alike can enjoy the entire park w/o having to hang out in the SS area the entire time. |

OP here: We ended up staying at Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites and it worked out great. May try another "suite" hotel next time we go.
I agreed with PP that Sesame Street is a little overrated and there is more to the park but we were happy we did Breakfast with Elmo. Worth the price. We liked the Land of Dragons the best. |
I took my 7yo daughter to Bush Gardens this past summer and we stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites! We had a great stay and the staff was uber friendly! Join the Priority Club for free and get some great perks incl a free night! We had so much fun we extended our stay! They were booked and worked hard to accomodate us and find us a room at their hotel! They held our bags and called when a room became available and moved our things for us! The rooms are very modern, clean and they have two televisons which is nice for kids and adults! The pool was great and so was the food!
