So we are getting ready to send our oldest child off to all day Kindergarten. This is a silly question, but what type of lunchbox did you get your kindergartner? Is it plain and insulated, or something with characters, or what? Where do a find a good selection? Target or online? Does your child bring milk to school in his lunch, or does he buy it at school? Also, we have been told to send in a snack (including a drink) as well. What did you use for the snack drink that did not leak? An insulated sports bottle or just a juice box? Did you send the snack in a paper bag, or did you have a 2nd insulated lunch bag? Also, what did you or what do you plan to send in for a snack? Thanks! |
For K, my oldest used the Disney Princess backpack she already had from preschool. A lot of kids use character backpacks theough at least second grade. I pack a milk because it can take a long time to get through the lunch line at our school and she is a bigger talker and often runs out of time to eat lunch. For emergency days, I use the Horizon milk boxes, but I usually pack it in a Rubbermaid Litterless juice box with a cold pack.
For snack, if you want something cold, I would try to find a small insulated bag and put it in a separate part of the backpack but somewhere easy to find (like the smaller, front zipper compartment). I do sometimes send in a juice box for snack, but usually water. Snack was usually a cheese stick and some crackers. |
