| I want to start a venture capital firm. Has anyone done this? Tell me like I'm 5, how do I begin? |
| wow, this is really the type of thing where if you have to ask on an anonymous internet forum than you have no business doing it. |
Dear lord, this. |
| 1. Accumulate a shit ton of money |
2. Give some of it to promising start ups. 3. Profit. |
| find a few billionaire friends first |
| Don't bother thanking us, OP. We were glad to help! |

Raise money from limited partners. Invest money in startups.
Godspeed! |
yeah, this is a great idea. no risk involved! |
That is literally what VCs do. Of course there is risk. That is the point. No risk, no reward! Go for it OP! |
+1 LOL. I was just about to post the same thing. And asking on DCUM of all places?!!?
|
| You might want to start by becoming an Angel. Time to buy out is shorter, the sums are less and eventually you could make the move to VC if that really floats your boat. While the return can certainly be handsome, the stress and the work involved is a lot more than most people believe. |
Or lose it all. |
