please help! - frantic mom looking for Bat Mitzvah dress for daughter's Bat Mitzvah

My daughter's Bat Mitzvah is in February and she needs to find two dresses: one for the service (more modest) and one for the party. I've been looking online and have only been able to find poofy short sparkly dresses, which is most definitely not what my daughter wants to wear. If you could recommend places to buy dresses and specific items, that would be awesome. She has a thicker, more athletic frame, and a larger chest, which she hates. Thanks in advance!

You are way too dramatic. Your title made this sound like an emergency. I thought you were going to say her bat mitzvah was this Saturday and her dress got lost in the floods or something. You have SIX MONTHS.

+1000. Plus we don't know anything about her coloring, your budget, etc. Stop looking online and take your daughter shopping. If you don't have a good eye, go to Nordstrom and work with a personal shopper. This just doesn't need to be that hard.

Seems a little early to buy a 12-year-old's dress anyway. What if she has a growth spurt between now and then? There will be a lot more available closer to the holidays.

Try rent the runway. There is a store in DC so you can try on in person. We rented a dress for our daughter to wear as a guest to a bat mitzvah and it was perfect.

We went the Nordstrom personal shopper route and it was a fun day for us and the stylist brought tons of things that I don't think she would have tried on otherwise.

This. At age 12, girls grow like crazy. We got our dresses a month or even less before. We did start looking earlier. Ended up purchasing at Bloomingdales.
