Finding a therapist for my son

I think our son needs to see a therapist (almost 7 year old). The private ones I found are very expensive - so we need one that will accept insurance. Should I just get a list of providers from the insurance company, call one and hope for the best? How will I know that they are caring, good with kids etc? FWIW, we are in Burke and willing to go anywhere in this area (Fairfax etc).

We're working with JSSA and have a good experience with the therapists there. There's a long wait list, though. They are in-network for some insurance plans.
