Best Shoes for Wide Feet?

Anonymous
I'm having a hard time finding shoes that fit my 2 year old. He has very wide feet. Currently a size 8, but not all 8W fit the same. The only reliable brands I've found is Saucony and Jumping Jack. Gap, Sperry, New Balance, have all failed. I would love to buy cheaper shoes, as each of those goes at $30 a pair, but I'm not sure where to look. And the brands that don't offer W, are there any that are naturally wide enough? Parents of wide feet children, what were your favorite brands? Any to stay away from?

Thanks!

Both my kids have wide feet (one is a 2E). They are older and wear Brooks and Asics now for running shoes. As younger kids they wore New Balance, Saucony, Stride Rite, Jumping Jacks and Tsukihoshi (these run wide, but I don't believe are labeled as wide).

If you're not already, take him to an in-person store and get him measured. They will have suggestions.

I've had luck with some Osh Kosh shoes, but they will not be much cheaper. I've bought on sale in Kohl's, but $30 is generally what I have to shell out for DS's shoes

I have wide feet and so do both my kids. We love Keens. I usually buy them on sale on Amazon with free return shipping, but REI sells them if you want to try them on in store or get your child's foot measured.

My 2 year old has very wide feet as well (until recently, they basically looked like squares!). We've had good luck with New Balance and See Kai Run.

Stride rite has shoes in 8XW. They go on sale for $20 or less routinely on Amazon, particularly around Black Friday. I also have luck on eBay, just pay attention to pictures for barely worn ones that people bought but didn't use because of size problems.

Oshkosh and See Kai Run - the latter I buy used on ebay

My DD also has super wide feet. She's 19 months. Brands that have worked:

-Stide Rite (wide only, regular width does not fit)
-Tsukihoshi
-Livie and Luca
-See Kai Run

I've tried a number of other brands and they don't work. The above do and I just suck it up and buy the expensive shoes for her comfort. I try to find used but haven't had luck yet. I did buy a pair of used Natives and they were too tight.

Jumping Jacks were excellent for my toddler with wide feet.

Stride Rite carries wide widths. We've also had luck with New Balance
