I'm development director at a small non-profit. I love working someplace where everyone is devoted to the mission and there is minimal infighting. I'm mildly an introvert, and even so some of the public facing work I need to do can feel draining, but I love strategizing and figuring out how to connect with people.

I have an MSW. Many people in similar positions have an MPP, some an MPH. Depending on what you want to do or how far up you want to go, you may need a PhD. I've worked in both a non-profit/academic environment, as well as government.
