How long should I wait to hear after interview before I write it off?

I was contacted by a recruiter for an interesting position and had a phone interview about a month ago. Went in last Tuesday for an in-person interview (took a while to get it scheduled) and followed up with the recruiter on Wednesday letting her know how I thought it went. She replied and said she'd check in with the company, but that's the last I heard of her. Should I bother checking in? Write it off? I don't need the job but I was getting excited about it after the interview.
