We have done ballet for a year and the attire was leotard in pink or black and pink ballet tights. It was a combo ballet/tap class.
Now we are doing just Tap and im confused. It says they can either wear a leotard or dance shorts and a dance shirt, similar to gymnastics from what ive seen. My question is, If she wears the shorts and short does she still wear tights underneath? Tap shoes arent all that comfortable so I cant imagine nothing between the shoe and the foot. But the pink ballet tights look a bit odd with dance clothes on. I know im overthinking this but for those of you with young dancers I would appreciate your insight. |
| Hint: ask the studio. |

Typically yes, she would wear tights. It is good for her to practice that way because if they have a show or recital, then they almost always wear tights, even with tap shoes.
But as the PP said, asking the studio is your best bet. |
| This is the OP, I called the studio yesterday to ask what most of the girls where so I didnt buy the wrong thing..........I forgot to ask about tights and was to embarassed to call back |

I teach tap for that age. Most kids do not like to be barefoot in their tap shoes. Most wear shorts or capri leggings with thin socks. Some do wear tights with their dance shorts, but typically tan or black tights instead of pink.
I would probably not buy anything until after the first class because she will probably want to look like the other kids. See what they are wearing and then if you need something else get it then. |
