Hello,
I am looking for an after-school tennis program for my middle school aged son. He is an advanced beginner to low intermediate level player - he has taken some lessons, can rally decently, but needs more instruction and to play with similar skill leveled peers. He has complained of having to stand and wait too long with little playing time in larger classes. Does anyone have recommendations in the Chevy Chase/Bethesda areas? Thank you. |

Where has he taken lessons?
Montgomery County at Pauline Betz near the mall Georgetown Prep Tennis Club 4startennis at Bullis |
| do private lessons if you could afford them. huge difference. |
Thank you from the OP. My son has taken lessons at Georgetown Prep and they were very good but I'm hoping to find a place closer to our home (and that is the place where he complained about a lot of standing around and waiting for his turn - although that was in a beginner class). The County-run classes seem very large so we have never tried those. |
Thank you from the OP. My son has taken private lessons, but he doesn't enjoy them as much since it is really all instruction and no play time. |
This is the poster you quoted - my 11 DD took some of the advanced Teen tennis classes and they were definitely much smaller. The problem then became it was too small and she had no similarly skilled peers to play against. It is a shame because that facility is nice, times and price are right, we like the coaches. I'm surprised it doesn't attract slightly better players |
| 8:00 poster again - are you set in after school lessons? If you are willing to do weekend classes, could that open up your driving radius a bit? There is the Jack Schore program in Germantown's Montgomery Tennisplex. No Way should you make that drive after school but might you be willing to on a weekend? Quince Orchard Swim and Tennis club also has lessons. |

I know nothing about the Aspen Hill Tennis Club, but maybe that is an option? DS has a friend who played there.
