I heard class sizes are atrocious, so we are strongly considering private school instead of 30:1 ratio.
Can anyone speak to the quality of the teachers being able to handle this class size? |
| My friend's son just finished 1st grade there and was very happy. |
| I'm not at Forestville, but I had 30 in my primary classroom last year and I definitely felt overtaxed. It spreads even the best teachers thin. |
| this is the lowest priced great falls areas I wouldn't assume that it would have a good ratio |
Please elaborate |
Huh? |
| Schools in that Mclean/great falls area seem to have class size issues. |
| "Issues"are probably because you don't have many ESOL students to ensure smaller classes |
| Bump |
There are not Title 1 schools, so when FCPS says it is raising class size to deal with budget problems, what they are saying is we are raising class sizes disproportionately in non Title 1 schools, like Forestville, because they cannot raise them in their already failing Title 1 schools. |

Bump.

This. They raised class sizes last year for K-12 classes. If you have an issue with this, take it to the school board. They need to hear from more parents about it. They keep raising them year after year. |

Doesn't everyone realize it is the luck of the draw when it comes to class size, not your individual school. At a certain point they add or take away a class. Principals don't have some magic phone line to get small class sizes.
My dd had 22 or less for k-2 now in 3rd, 30. It is how many kids register. Always blows my mind when I see this about public schools. |

we have friends whose son is in first grade there. i know they really like their son's teacher. sorry i can't give you any details.
i thought all FCPS had 1st grades around 30 students each? |
| Really? Our FCPS has 22 max in first grade. |
