Has anyone been able to successfully get vomit or the vomit smell out of a Chicco Nextfit? Because i have cleaned as much as I could possibly clean externally and short of taking the thing apart (which is obviously not a good idea), I can't think of any ways to get the smell out. Am I doomed to just buying a new carseat?

| Not vomit but a very bad pee accident with a lot of pee inside the frame. I actually did take it apart. If you call customer service they will email you instructions on how to reinstall the harness (which is not normally supposed to come out). I put the bare shell in the shower and hosed it out with the handheld sprayer. |
| Have you washed the cover? Put the seat out in direct sun. |
| I'm yeah you are going to have to take it apart and wash the cover. Spray it down first with the hose and then wash in the machine. Spray down the frame too obviously. |
| Take off the cover & wash it. BTDT. |
| Use Nature's Miacle. It's for pet stains but works well on getting rid of vomit too. |
Not the new reformulated one, it used to be awesome, but the new one smells like a corpse in a ditch of dog feces. They should rename it the eye stinger, because you spray it on a stain, it wafts and makes your eyes burn. If you spray it on your car seat, you might as well just set it on fire after. |
| OP here. I took off the cover and washed it immediately!! I'm talking about the harness and all the plastic books, crannies, and seams! |

The instructions in the manual should help.

| Take it out of the car and spray all the nooks and crannies with a hose on the strongest setting. My Britax has a base that doesn't come off, but all the nastiness flows down there. I wish they made it so you could clean every single spot on that thing. |
|
You need to take the cover completely off and wash it in the washing machine. Hose the plastic base in close proximity to get the nooks and crannies. Use 409 on all plastic parts.
It's a pain to take them apart but they're built to allow it. Been there, done that. |
| Oh and the straps you just have to hose off as well as you can. Again, hose at close range with a sprayer so that it's like a power wash. |
DO NOT use vinegar on the harness - it degrades the webbing of the fabric and makes the car seat less safe! |
| Baking powder? Pour on and let sit then vacuum up |
