| No advice. Just sympathy. Have done all of the above. After a good wash and sit in the sun the smell is MOSTLY gone. I was happy to drop it at MILs house bc she needed an extra. |
| Time helps... or perhaps we have gone nose-blind. |
I agree with hosing off and setting in the sun. Also, if you can, leave the windows cracked on the car. The moment you get in when the vomit seat has been baking in the car all day is the worst. |

I have the Chicco Next Fit Zip and my son gets car sick regularly so you have my sympathies. I wash everything that comes off the car seat in the washing machine. I take a hose with a spray nozzle to the nooks and crannies of the seat and let it air dry outside upside down and I take a sponge with mild dish detergent on the straps.
Sorry, it sucks. We live in the city and I avoid taking him in the car as much as possible. |
| Our DD had a stretch of car sickness and vomited 3 or 4 times in her car seat, I ended up just getting a new one. |
| We did this! We took the cover completely off and washed it (youtube is great for this), and then we basically hosed the entire plastic seat down and cleaned the straps and in the crevices with mild soap and a toothbrush. I think there were one or two things that we took apart, but I contacted customer service to confirm what we could do without damaging the seat, and I suggest you do the same. |

+1 for hosing it down and leaving it out in the sun.
If that doesn’t fix it, though, life is too short to smell vomit every day if you can afford to replace the seat. |
| Put it in the shower. If that’s not enough, submerge in water (bath or pool). |
| Washed cover with Borax like 3 times. Made borax solution and cleaned straps and inside plastic. |
| There is just some *awful* advice in this thread. Please follow the instructions in the manual. And then contact customer service at Chicco for further instruction. They're super helpful. They do recommend using a hose (shower or garden) to spray off the bottom portion of the seat (not the back where the foam is) on a *gentle* setting. Repeat as many times as needed and then dry upside down for 24 hours. They will also send you info to remove the harness straps to more easily be able to wash them. Do NOT use vinegar, bleach, wipes, 409, or anything but a mild soap on any part of the seat/cushions. |
Well this thread was from 2019, so I assume OP figured it out by now. |
