Romantic/Nice hotels in New Orleans?

Anonymous
My husband and I are considering a weekend getaway to New Orleans. We'd like to find a nice, romantic, boutique hotel within walking distance of the French Quarter (or on the trolley line). Would consider pricey options, but would prefer something in the $150-$200 per night range.

We don't want to stay at a "big" hotel (Hyatt, Hilton, etc.) unless there is something special/charming about it.

Any recommendations?

Hotel Maison de Ville is centrally located in the Quarter---it is pricier than you want but since it is low season they might be willing to negotiate. It has a lovely courtyard---which backs up to Court of Two Sisters restaurant, so you can enjoy the music from their jazz brunch for free. My husband and I stayed there two years ago and liked it.

Maison St. Charles is on St. Charles in the Garden District---right on the Trolley line. It is a Quality Inn but does not look like it. My parents stayed there several years ago and thought it was decent. It is considerably less expensive than anything you would find in the Quarter.

I love New Orleans! Have fun! I will try and think of some hotel recommendations, but I will suggest you try NOLA for dinner one night (a newer Emeril joint) and Arnaud's for classic n.o. brunch or dinner or O'Brien's for brunch.
