Has anyone taken the Bolt bus to New York? Is so, would you recommend it for a trip with a 4.5 year old? Is it clean? Easy? Etc.
I just met my parents in NY. They took the bus from Mass and DH and I didn't because he still thinks of busses like the Grayhounds were in the 80s. My parents loved it and had the easiest trip ever. DH and I had miserable traffic! I wish we had taken the bus! Bolt has wifi, extra legroom, and is supposed to be clean and newer. I would definitely go for it. But to go on off hours and take advantage of the reserved seating option if you have a toddler.
I took Vamoose and I don't know that I'd recommend bringing a young child. It's mostly adults and honestly the 2 kids that were on there were annoying everyone else. Problem mostly the parents though, but kids that age don't know how to sit quietly for that long. Last week it took one bus 6 hrs to get to NYC due to the traffic, so you have to be prepared for that as well.

I took Vamoose this weekend with my 5 year old. (Hopefully we weren't the ones annoying everyone!) I would HIGHLY recommend it - it was on time, super clean, really comfy - big leather seats, etc. - had plugs at each seat (nice for DVD playres, etc.) and just really easy. We did not use the bathroom onboard, just becuase I couldn't deal with the grossness I imagined therein - who wants to wipe that down? - but I bet it wasn't too bad in actual fact. The bus itself was spotless. My daughter really loved riding in the bus and looking out the windows and the novelty of not riding in her carseat! Two thumbs up!

I took VaMoose two weeks ago - bathroom was very clean, I'll vouch for that. I didn't have my kids with me, but I think it might be hard. Both going up and coming back there was not an empty seat, it was packed. I felt a little claustrophobic, not sure how kids would do.
16:40 here - just FYI, there were a few empty seats on both buses we took. The bus we took back from NYC yesterday was brand new and very luxe - so roomy and comfy. It really was nice!
Clean, easy, took 8 hrs on a Friday afternoon and not the most comfortable
Do any of them drop at locations other than downtown NYC? For example, near LaGuardia or JFK?
The WaPo Sunday travel section just did a whole article on all the buses-- you should be able to find the chart online which shows where they pick up and drop off.
