Elementary School-Aged Kids
|
My nanny has finally managed to bring her 17year old daughter in the country. She has just been admitted in school and will have to start at the 10th grade as she hardly knows a word of English.
She has absolutely nothing yet in terms of school material , calculator, books, gym equipment, winter clothes, computer, bike .... or any other things that a kid of her age might need (i have no idea as mine is a preschooler). I thought I would try to ask around to see if anyone whose kid is older, maybe leaving for college, would like to help and donate things that they don't need anymore. I or she will be happy to come and pick up things where and when convenient. You can email me at littlekaira at yahoo dot com |

You can get school supplies from various churches that give them away every year at this time. Start calling your local churches to find out where to go.
For $60 at Value Village she can get almost a whole wardrobe. Their 2nd hand clothes are in good shape and fashionable. Their best store is at 10121 New Hampshire Ave Silver Spring, MD They have a high-end store next to their regular store. They have another regular store in Langley Park at 2277 University Blvd E, Hyattsville, MD Mondays are 25% off. If she needs furniture, the Salvation Army store at 3304 Kenilworth Ave, Hyattsville, MD has good stuff. Wednesdays are their discount day. I think their clothes are over priced and not as good quality as Value Village but their furniture is good. That plus a $100 gift certificate to Walmart and she should be all set for a while. |
| This is great advice. Thank you. They live close to Silver Spring so it should be easy. |
