I am new to ebay. Bought really expensive shoes for my daughter over three weeks ago. They never arrived, and my emails to the seller aren't being answered. Bought through pay pal. What are my options?
Pisses me off. |

OP here- that would be "what do you WHEN. . ."
sorry for the typo. |
| I think eBay has a resolution center. More info http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/item-not-received.html |

You can file a complaint through paypal - the seller has a certain # of days to respond, and if they don't, your money will be refunded. I've had to do this a few times for non-received goods.
http://resolutioncenter.ebay.com/ make sure to file the complaint through paypal as well as through ebay. |
| That's infuriating. But the ebay/ paypal resolution process is pretty straightforward and reliable. You'll get your money back, and then you can leave negative feedback for the seller. It'll just take a few weeks. |
| It happened to me once. Turned out the seller's mom passed away. The woman contacted me right after she got back to her town, she didn't have time to check her e-mail either. |
| I've had good luck (as a seller) working with eBay's resolution center and with Paypal - hope they're able to help you out! |

This is the OP.
I just read the PP who noted her experience where the seller's mom died. I don't know the circumstances in my case, and that is why I am hesitant to leave negative feedback. But still. . .so annoying. The shoes were for a scheduled portrait. Damn. |
| don't hesitate too long. I did once, and time for filing a complaint ran out. I've had to use the resolution center about 5 times, and only once did the seller respond to the complaint. I think that sometimes they just change their mind about selling the item. |

File the complaint first. You have something like 60 days to leave negative feedback, so that can wait a little bit if you're nervous.
It's very important to file the complaint if you want your money back. If it turns out it was something like a death in the family, you and the seller can agree to remove the negative feedback mutually. |
| also check the seller's feedback and see if he/she sent out anything else bought within the same timeframe. If he/she did, then it is obviously not a death in the family. |

I had a similar situation earlier this year. I purchased a birthday gift for my son and it didn't arrive for 3 weeks. I used paypal resoultion process as the seller was not responding to my emails.
The seller had evidence that she sent the item, I never recevied it. We decided to split the cost ..... 2 weeks later a box shows up. The original mailing label that the person printed out did not have my full address on it - but the seller put a receipt in the box. The post office opened the box, found my address and mailed it along. It was obviously a glitch in the software that is used to print the address label from either paypal or ebay as some of the it was incomplete (had my name and zip code only). Really a bummer on all sides. |

OP here,
Errr. . . I followed the advice of a PP and checked the seller's feedback to see if there had been activity. Apparently items had been shipped, and people had received them and left feedback in the month since I purchased and paid for my item. So after four unanswered emails, I posted negative feedback. I got a response right away. It was the seller's husband who responded. He said his wife had been away for two weeks as her mom had passed away. He said he was also busy taking care of their infant and attending to their online stores. He also mentioned that they have employees. ? So I felt like an asshole after I read this. But. . .it all seems a bit fishy. I know that life circumstances sometimes prevent you from attending to "work," and I would hate to blemish someone's e-bay status if that was the case. It just seems weird that I got immediate action after leaving feedback. So that is where it is. And I still don't have the shoes. He told me he mailed them out yesterday. It will save me the trouble of filing a claim, but next time, I will purchase things from a trusted vendor. It would not have been a big deal, if we hadn't scheduled to have her portraits done and counted on the shoes. Thanks for the responses folks. Much appreciated. |
| oh. . .he also said that he would waive the shipping charges. I appreciated that, as it was a large amount for a small package. |
| fishy indeed. (this is the OP's husband, who is trying to steer my wife away from ebay.) |
