Would you call me moderately active or very active...

Whenever I try to use those sites that figure out how many calories you need a day I need to state my activity level. I think I'm between moderately and very active, but please weigh in as I would like to be as accurate as possible. Here are my daily activities.

Walk to and from work 4 days a week--1.75 miles each way. I wouldn't say I stroll but I definitely don't speed walk either.
Jog at a 9:30 to 10:30 mile pace 3-4 days a week going 3-4 miles at a time.
Walk dog once a day for about 1/2 mile (very slowly).

My job is a desk job, so very sedentary.

Thanks for any input.

I agree that your activity level seems to be between the two. What if you enter each option and then take the average of the two to figure out the number of calories?

I don't know. I think in comparison to most Americans, you are very active, even if you are not training for a half-marathon. But I haven't used these sites. Do you think they want your answer in comparison to most Americans or to athletes in general?

very active

If you're in doubt, you could always put "moderately active". You're probably able to change it later on if you need to.

have to agree, compared to most, that's very active.

Clever.

I would say moderate. I leave "very" to (1) people whose jobs require manual labor, and (2) professional athletes.

Definitely not VERY. You are walking, with only a few days of light jogging for 30-40 minutes.

moderate -very would be more intense and longer duration
