What to do with a toddler in NYC for 5 days in Sept

Anonymous
We are traveling to New York with 20 month old DD. Any fun toddler ideas we can do during the day?

Thank you!

We took our kids up to Manhattan when they were 2 and 3 in the Winter (snow on the ground). We stayed at the Lucerne Hotel which is on the upper West side, where we got a mini suite with extra cots. The breakfast in the hotel is not that amazing but there is a deli across the street where you can get fresh coffee and bagels and whatever early in the mornings. Its also within walking distance of a huge gated public playground, the kid museum, the Natural History Museum and the park. All really worthwhile visits. And if you drive up, they have covered parking.

Central Park, of course - the zoo, the playgrounds and the beautiful park itself! Natural History Museum is fun at any age. Also look into seeing a rehearsal at Lincoln Center.

In case other people see this: if you go to the WTC and walk north along the Hudson River, you'll find a series of spectacular playgrounds. When you see the funny metal sculptures, ask people with kids who are about 5 or 6 where the slide built into the hill is. (It's in a little pocket park behind a building and is hard to find.)
