It's also contagious, rambunctious, spurilous and down right delicious and it benefits all people at the expense of global warming and car dependency and it needs to be revisited for how glorious it is. |
And yet, it works everywhere else. I guess Connecticut Avenue is just a unique street in the world that it cannot work there. ![]() |
It isn't THE main commuter road into the city. It is one of several. Why is it acceptable to have a highway as our main street when we could have something much more livable? |
Hard to have a study when it hasn't happened yet. You just don't like the other ones that have been shared because they undermine your position. |
Kids i Chevy Chase DC who are in the Murch district. Kids who are in North Cleveland Park who are in the Eaton district, kids who are in Cleveland Park who are in the Oyster distict. Any of the families who send their kids from uptown to Sidwell, Maret, St Albans Burke or catch the Field shuttle. Just to name a few. |
I prefer my hybrid, but thanks for your concern. This voter has NO interest in reducing my car dependency. |
Then ask for speed humps, but if you don;t think there aren't already these angry drivers speeding on side streets, I don't know what to tell you, because they are there currently. |
I have NO interest in many of DCs policies, but guess what, I still live under them. It's crazy how the world doesn't revolve around you |
And why do drivers always insist that cyclists can go out of their way too take other routes but they won't do the same? If Connecticut Avenue is too crowded then take Wisconsin or Mass Ave (or a freaking bus for once in your life) |
I guess you haven't seen these streets that are already "ground to a halt" - giving people options will take some of those cars out of the car lanes, freeing up space for others who have to drive. In other words, traffic is already bad, bike lanes is not going to make bad traffic badder. The idea is to give options so as to alleviate the pressure. |
Actual evidence tells us that you couldn’t be more wrong, but by all means carry on spreading ill-informed drivel. |
Actually it is quite the opposite. It affords the opportunity for those who are not as confident walking or biking to have the option to do so more safely in the future and thus freeing up scaare car lanes for those who actually have to use them because they have no other options. |
People are leaving D.C. in droves so I suspect there will be less traffic to deal with in the long-term. |
Most of them are just relocating to the suburbs. This may be part of DC trying to make a traffic congestion moat to discourage more people from fleeing to Montgomery County. |
So you’ve gone back God knows how many dozens of pages to highlight a comment - one that you probably made - that was thoroughly discredited with data. |
